Hello, I'm Lisa Davis. I teach Sophomore and Senior English and Journalism, which is the class that does the Bergman yearbook. This is my 19th year of teaching, and my 10th year at Bergman High School.
I graduated from Flippin High School in 1980. Off to college I went, graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1984 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Shortly after graduation, I met the man with whom I have spent the last 28 years. We have two sons, Will and Josh. I was a stay-at-home mom when my children were young, but as they got older, I decided to return to work. And I decided that I wanted to teach. I didn't always want to be a teacher. You see, my mother was a teacher, and there was a time when I didn't want to be anything like my mother! However, as I got older and matured a little, I realized my mother wasn't that bad after all! I was fortunate that I had the opportunity as an older student to return to college and complete my teaching credentials. So, off to college I went once again, this time to College of the Ozarks. It took me two years (I went part-time), but I finally was a licensed teacher. I am certified to teach English, Math, Science, and Social Studies for grades 5 - 8, English as a Second Language for grades K - 12, English for grades 9 - 12, and Journalism for grades 9 - 12. I have taught each of these subjects, but English is my first love and passion. In August I received my master’s degree in Library Media Science from Arkansas Tech. By the way, I am an avid reader and love to discuss books! I love my job, and I love working with students.
A great joy in my life is my family. I am married to Jackie Davis, a 1974 graduate of BHS. As I mentioned, we have two sons, Will and Josh, who are also Bergman graduates. Jackie and Will are also graduates of the University of Arkansas. We live on a farm north of Bergman which was homesteaded by Jackie's family after the Civil War. We raise cattle and have ducks and geese! We also have the requisite pets: a Golden Retriever named Ruby and 3 cats – Miss Kitty Cat, Barney, and Buttercup. We attend Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Harrison where I am active in the music ministry and Jackie is active in missions. Our family loves going to Razorback football games. On home game days, you can find us in Fayetteville cheering on the Hogs! Woo Pig Sooiiieeeeee!
