Ten or so things about me:
--I am Jo Nell (McCord) Van Lear.
--The 2017-18 school year will be my fifth year at Bergman High School; however, I am beginning my 24th year of teaching.
--I have taught English and Spanish from kindergarten to the college level in Oklahoma and high school Spanish in Missouri.
--My family and I are from Oklahoma originally.
--I graduated from high school in Welch, OK. in 1989; graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University--Stillwater, OK, in 1993; and graduated with a master's degree from Pittsburg State University--Pittsburg, KS, in 2001.
--My husband and I have been married for 21 years.
--Keith and I were very blessed with two wonderful children: Jessie (17) and A. J. (15). They both love sports and always have. We love watching them play sports. We consider Alivia (Taylor) Brushia part of our family as well. She is pretty special to us and always will be.
--We also claim another child as our own: Tyler Chaney of Neosho, MO. He was a student of mine at Neosho High School, and we couldn't love him more. He's a very special kid, even if he is now in his 30s, married to a beautiful girl named Maggie, and father to a gorgeous little girl named Tayler.
--My mom Carol (NaNa) lives with us in Harrison. She is a retired Home Ec. teacher. My dad C. J. passed away in 2004. They were married 39 years before he died of pancreatic cancer. He was a retired principal and spent his summers bulldogging. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, principal, and cowboy.
--The last member of our family is our awesome dog Chaney. He is one of a kind.
