I am so thankful that our Covid positivity numbers, while never reaching 1% of our staff and student population, continue to fall. Weekly updates on the number of positive cases, and the numbers of close contacts are still being posted on the Live feed portion of the Bergman App, as well as on the website. Go to the App Store and search Bergman School District if you would like to download it.
The first quarter of this year is in the books, and it has been wonderful to have more students back on campus. We can do such a better job of educating the majority of students in person, rather than strictly through technology. Computers are such a helpful tool for instruction, but for most kids having a live teacher in the classroom is a must. We are fortunate that our teachers are more than just living bodies, but amazing instructors as well!
I would like to also mention just a few of the projects that we are working on around campus. The North Arkansas College heavy equipment class is helping us get the softball field leveled out and in better shape. A long jump pit and runway are also being constructed for the track program. Handrails have been installed on the pullout bleachers in the gym, to help folks safely get to their seats. Seven new HVAC units have been approved for purchase, and are hoping to have those installed asap to improve air quality in four of our buildings. The digital sign is up and running by the gym entrance. Hopefully, the sign, the Bergman App, and the improved website are helping us get information out to you more quickly.
As we begin to return to some of the normally scheduled parent activities please remember:
Masks can be worn if you choose to wear them, but are not required. They will be available in the school offices if you need one. The CDC recommends indoor masking for all individuals age 2 years and older, including students, teachers, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status
We will be social distancing as much as possible. The CDC recommendation for safe distancing between students has been shortened to 3 feet.
We will continue to have hand sanitizer and or hand washing stations in classrooms, cafeterias, and at building entrances. Please, let us know if those areas need refilling or repair
Extra attention will be given to cleaning and we will continue to spray and disinfect daily.
To improve ventilation, we will open doors and windows when possible, hold some events outside, and use HVAC systems to circulate air inside buildings.
Students, staff members, and visitors will be asked to self screen at home before coming to school each day. It is vital for everyone to stay at home if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms.
Thank you for your patience and support in these difficult times. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions and concerns. Together we can not only do this but Do It Well!
