Well we are off to a good start! Three weeks of classes are behind us now, and our first parent-teacher conferences of the year will be this Thursday. Please try and check in with your student's teachers via phone or email to see how they are doing in class so far. We have grown a few students over last year and appear to have 1069 k-12 students. This is up about 19 kids over our 3 quarter average last year. Traffic was a little crazy in the afternoons for a while, but a slight reroute of some of the elementary parents has helped that. Thank you so much for your patience, and for helping us keep the kids all safe in the parking lots. Our Covid numbers have continued to be less than 1% positive for our staff and students combined. We are continuing to monitor the latest recommendations and mandates closely. If changes occur, we will push that information out to you as quickly as possible. Please know that we are monitoring numbers of positive cases in our school, as well as in our local hospital frequently and will make adjustments to our plans as our data changes.
Here is what we know now:
There will be a weekly update of our district numbers for positive cases and quarantines in a graph for the LIVE Feed on our website.
At this time, masks can be worn if you choose to wear them, but are not required. Masks will be available again in the school offices and on buses, for students who forget theirs at home if they would like one. The CDC recommends indoor masking for all individuals age 2 years and older, including students, teachers, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
We will be social distancing as much as possible. The CDC recommendation for safe distancing between students has been shortened to 3 feet. An additional bus route was added in May, and some students were moved to other routes in order to decrease crowding on buses.
We will continue to have hand sanitizer and or hand washing stations in classrooms, cafeterias, and at building entrances.
Extra attention will be given to cleaning and we will continue to spray and disinfect classrooms and buses daily.
To improve ventilation, we will open doors and windows when possible. Air purifiers have also been purchased for classrooms and older less efficient HVAC units will be replaced as funding allows.
We will continue to screen the limited number of visitors and vendors who will be allowed in our buildings as long as the Covid active cases remain high in our area. Students and staff members will be asked to self screen at home before coming to school each day. It is vital for everyone to stay at home if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms.
We have a virtual/digital plan approved for students in grades 9-12.
Quarantine per ADH guidelines:
*If a student is fully vaccinated, then they will not have to quarantine unless they are showing symptoms
*If a student is wearing a mask correctly and the student they are in close contact with is wearing a mask correctly, then only the one with the symptoms will have to quarantine.
Thank you for your patience and support in these difficult times. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions and concerns. Together we can not only do this... but Do It Well!
